Inspired by their own flower garden, Oriana and Michael’s wedding showcased the agrarian wonderland at their Apiary Wedding in Lexington, Kentucky. Oriana and Michael’s love for gardening was interwoven throughout every detail of their special day.
Their wedding featured a cohesive garden theme from the beginning to end. Each tablescape was inspired by a fresh garden look, laden with garden blooms and taper candles, representing their personal style of modern minimalistic sophistication. As a little girl, Oriana grew up learning about how to garden from her mother. The two often spent lots of time together growing herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Fast forward to her adult life, Oriana grows snapdragons, peonies, sage, rosemary, and thyme in hers and Michael’s garden, so the florist worked to include each of those elements in Oriana’s bridal bouquet, as well as in all of the reception table centerpieces.
Instead of having a traditional wedding party, Oriana and Michael chose to surround themselves with family members and requested attire within their floral color palette for intentional and cohesive group photos that flowed with the other elements of their day. Oriana wore a gorgeous BHLDN bridal gown with a feminine bow on the lower back for the ceremony and transitioned into a sleek J Crew dress for the reception complemented with natural glam timeless and romantic soft wavy curls to frame her face by Allison Jenks of Blush + Glow. The post-ceremony outfit change was perfect for the occasion, as Oriana and Michael performed a choreographed routine for their first dance. Lindsay Miller Stokes choreographed the upbeat routine performed by the couple that night, and The Louisville Crashers wedding band accompanied the couple’s dance.
Oriana and Michael’s love for gardening, paired with cooking and baking, followed into many elements of the reception as well, including their signature drinks which were illustrated by Oriana’s mother. Michael’s cocktail was called, “The Gardener,” which included bourbon, cointreau, and ginger beer, garnished with thyme. Oriana’s cocktail was called, “The Green Thumb,” which included gin, lime, and blueberries, garnished with cucumber and mint. This wedding represented the couple, their style, their aesthetic, and their passions with sincerity and true sophistication.
